Celebrating the Launch of New MedicatOne Patient Portal
Medicat, a leading provider of student health technology for colleges and universities, announced the launch of its newly modernized patient portal, now hosted on the MedicatOne platform.

The redesigned portal gives students a faster, more intuitive way to manage their well-being — from scheduling appointments and completing forms to accessing records and communicating with their providers.
Rather than adapting a generic portal, Medicat built the portal around the specific needs, expectations, and workflows of the campus population. It was developed in close partnership with a Patient Portal Advisory Committee (PPAC), which is composed of 12 campus clinic leaders from across the country.
Various student-led groups also weighed in on the portal’s design and functionality to ensure the experience reflects how today’s college students actually engage with health and counseling services.
Medicat’s goal is to provide a more intuitive student experience. Key improvements to the new patient portal include:
- A modern, mobile-friendly interface
- Streamlined appointment scheduling
- Simplified forms
- Easier immunization compliance.
“Modernizing the portal on the MedicatOne platform wasn’t just a visual refresh — it was a rethinking of how students expect to interact with their health or counseling center. We built this on a platform designed to be secure, reliable, and flexible enough to grow with the needs of campuses and the students they serve,” said Ann Wright, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Medicat.
The PPAC played a central role throughout the design and development process, giving students and campus wellness professionals a direct voice in shaping the final product.
“The PPAC changed how we built this portal. Instead of guessing what students needed, we had stakeholders reacting to designs, challenging our assumptions, and telling us what actually matters. Nearly every meaningful decision in this new portal traces back to feedback from the committee and the student groups we worked with,” said Joelle Koka, Medicat’s Associate Product Manager.
The modernized portal is available now, and Medicat is rolling it out to clients in phases. Clients interested in joining an early rollout phase can request access through the Medicat Help Center. All clients will be transitioned to the new portal by March 2027.
